Steeped in history and culture the moorland has its own place in the beauty and wildness of the Isle of Lewis. In this dramatic scenery one could walk for days without seeing another person, but what you could see are the soaring eagles and buzzards and a myriad of wild flowers, some of which can be found nowhere else.

Between May and September the local people can be seen cutting, drying, stacking and bring home the peat for their winter fires.

As trees turn their leaves to gold, red and brown so the moorland changes her mantle from the white of the bog cotton to the purple of the heather.
